AFP and AP have reported that Pakistani military claimed that Indian strikes targeted PAF Base Nur Khan in in Rawalpindi, PAF Base Murid in Chakwal, and PAF Base Rafiqui near Shorkot.
This development comes after several explosions were heard near Rawalpindi and Shorkot.
On May 9, 2025, Pakistani drones once again violated the ceasefire along the Line of Control and International Border. The drone attack triggered blackouts and air sirens across Jammu, Jalandhar, Pathankot, Barmer and 22 other locations across northern and western states.
Furthermore, a drone attack also targeted a residential building in Punjab's Ferozepur, injuring three members of a family. The family members are receiving treatment for the burns caused due to the attack.
In a post on social media platform X, the Government of Pakistan stated that it successfully intercepted the missile attacks at Noor Khan, Shorkot and Murid Airbase.
"India must now prepare for Pakistan's response. The Armed Forces of Pakistan are fully prepared to defend the homeland, airspace and national security," the post further added.
An official statement confirming India's attacks on Pakistani air bases is awaited.
Tensions between India and Pakistan has reached a new boiling point, prompting both nuclear-armed nations to exchange regular fire and attacks across the border, the worst since the 1971 Indo-Pak war.
The tensions escalated after the Pahalgam attack on April 22 in which terrorists opened fire on a group of tourists in Baisaran Valley. The attack resulted in the deaths of 26 tourists, including one Nepali citizen.
