Israel late on Monday launched fresh strikes on Yemen바카라s Hodeidah Port situated in the Red Sea City, as a retaliation to Iran-backed Houthis바카라 Sunday attack on Israel바카라s main airport, the Israeli army confirmed.
The strike killed at least one person and injured 35, Reuters reported.
The Hodeidah port is strategically crucial, as it is the second-largest in the Red Sea after Aden and is the entry point for around 80% of Yemen's food imports.
The military바카라s statement mentions attacking a region which is Houthi terrorist targets in Hodeidah and its vicinity. AFP reported that Israeli "fighter jets struck terror targets belonging to the Huthi terrorist regime, along Yemen's coastline and further inland."
The military바카라s statement further claimed that the Hodeida port "is used for the transfer of Iranian weapons, military equipment, and other equipment intended for terrorist purposes".
The head of the Houthi media office - Nasruddin Amer - said on social media, 바카라The aggressive Zionist-American raids on civilian facilities will not affect our military operations against the Zionist enemy entity.바카라 He further mentioned that the Israeli strikes would not deter the Houthis, and they will respond to the attack.
As a measure of safety, the Houthis shut down the area around the port and cement factory following the strikes, Reuters reported.
Reuters reported that the U.S. official - who wished to remain anonymous - said that the U.S. was not involved in the strike targeting the port.

On Monday, US launched at least 10 fresh in and around Yemen바카라s capital Sanaa in retaliation to Houthis바카라 attack on Israel's main Ben Gurion Airport.
Media reports suggest that the US strikes wounded 14 people in the Sawan neighbourhood.
Houthis rebels on Sunday claimed that they would impose a "comprehensive" aerial blockade on Israel by continuing to target its airport, as a reaction to Israel바카라s plan of expanding its operations in the Gaza strip. After Sunday바카라s airport attack, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a video posted to his X account, "we have acted in the past, and we will act in the future. I cannot detail everything. The United States, in coordination with us, is also acting against them. It's not a one-and-done, but there will be blows."
Air India on Tuesday announced that its flights to and from Israel's commercial capital - Tel Aviv - will remain suspended till May 8th.
Earlier, on May 4th, the company had posted an air advisory about the suspension of flights till May 6th.
