Several journalists were killed with one dead as Israel continued its strike in different areas of Gaza.
A 33-year-old freelance photographer Abed Shaat had returned to a tent in front of Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis in southern Gaza where he바카라d been based along with other journalists since the start of Israel바카라s war on Gaza.
바카라I woke up to the sound of a huge explosion nearby,바카라 Shaat said to Al-Jazeera. 바카라My colleagues and I immediately rushed out of the tent. [I had] my mobile phone to film. 바카라The strike had directly hit the journalists바카라 tent across from us. I was horrified 바카라 to target journalists like this!바카라
The tent belonged to the TV station Palestine Today. 바카라I started taking pictures from a distance, but as I got closer to the burning tent, I saw one of my colleagues on fire,바카라 Shaat said to Al-Jazeera. I couldn바카라t continue filming. I don바카라t even know how I summoned the courage to approach the flames and try to pull the burning person out.
바카라The fire was intense. There was a gas canister that had exploded, and another one that was burning. I tried to pull him out by his leg, but his pants tore off in my hand. I tried from another angle, but I couldn바카라t. 바카라The fire grew so strong, I fell back, I couldn바카라t bear it any longer. Then some of the men came with water to put the fire out.
바카라I suddenly felt really weak 바카라Š and lost consciousness.바카라
Israel바카라s attack burned Palestine Today reporter Hilmi al-Faqaawi to death along with another man named Yousef al-Khazindar.
Journalists Hassan Eslaih, Ahmed al-Agha, Muhammad Fayek, Abdallah Al-Attar, Ihab al-Bardini and Mahmoud Awad were also injured.
The Israeli army stated on X that it launched the attack to capture Hassan Abdel Fattah Muhammad Islayh (Eslaih), claiming he was a Hamas member disguised as a journalist.
Eslaih, a journalist with a significant social media following, was severely injured in the strike. He had previously been threatened by Israeli authorities for his coverage of an attack on an Israeli kibbutz during the Hamas-led assaults on southern Israel on October 7, 2023.
The Israeli army also stated it took precautions to minimize harm to civilians but did not clarify why it chose to target a tent filled with sleeping journalists in an attempt to capture one of them.
