Two Israeli embassy staff were shot dead on Wednesday night outside an event at the Capital Jewish Museum in Washington, DC.

"Two Israeli Embassy staff were senselessly killed tonight near the Jewish Museum in Washington DC," Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said on X.

The dead include a man and a woman who were killed in the area of 3rd and F streets in Northwest near the museum when they were leaving the event, the suspect approached them and opened fire, according to the media reports.

"These horrible D.C. killings, based obviously on antisemitism, must end, now! Hatred and Radicalism have no place in the USA. Condolences to the families of the victims. So sad that such things as this can happen! God Bless You all!" U.S. President Donald Trump said in social media post.

The 30-year-old suspect that shot the two Israeli diplomats chanted 'free, free Palestine' after arrest, Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela Smith said at a news conference, as per AP.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation(FBI) has been briefed about the case.

"While we바카라™re working with [Metropolitan Police Department] to respond and learn more, in the immediate, please pray for the victims and their families," FBI Director Kash Patel said on X.

Danny Danon, the ambassador of Israel to the United Nations, called the shooting "a depraved act of anti-Semitic terrorism."

"Harming diplomats and the Jewish community is crossing a red line," Danon posted on X. "We are confident that the US authorities will take strong action against those responsible for this criminal act."
