In a major counterintelligence breakthrough, the Delhi Police on Thursday announced the dismantling of a sleeper cell operated by Pakistan바카라™s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) in the national capital, ANI reported. Two individuals have been arrested in connection with the operation, including a Nepali national identified as Ansarul Mian Ansari.

Authorities said Ansari was apprehended in Delhi earlier this year while attempting to flee to Pakistan, ANI said. Classified documents related to Indian security forces were recovered from his possession. Investigations have revealed that he was compiling sensitive information onto a compact disc (CD) under direct orders from ISI handlers for transmission across the border.

The second accused, Akhlaq Azam, a resident of Ranchi, Jharkhand, was arrested in March. According to officials, Azam facilitated Ansari바카라™s movements in Delhi and maintained regular contact with a Pakistani handler.

Police said the operation spanned from January to March 2025 and resulted in the recovery of significant military-related material. A chargesheet was filed in May, and both accused are currently lodged in Tihar Jail.

Further inquiry uncovered that Ansari had previously worked as a taxi driver in Qatar, where he was reportedly recruited by an ISI operative. He was later taken to Pakistan for training by senior ISI officials before being deployed to Delhi via Nepal.

Officials say the arrests mark a significant blow to ISI바카라™s covert operations in India, and investigations are ongoing to identify any additional operatives connected to the sleeper cell.
