At least eight people, including three women and one child, were killed as a massive fire engulfed a factory in Maharashtra's Solapur district on Sunday, PTI reported.
A short circuit is likely to be the reason behind the inititaion of fire, which started around 3:45 am at Central Textile Mills situated on the Akkalkot Road in Solapur MIDC.
Amongst the dead is the owner of the factory, identified as Haji Usman Hasanbhai Mansuri, three members of his family including his one-and-a-half-year old grandson, PTI reported. Others include four workers of the factory.
The deceased include three women.
The operation to subdue the fire took five-six hours for the Fire Brigade as the intensity of the blaze was high.
Fire fighting operations are underway at the spot, PTI reported.
The incident happened on the same day as 17 people, including six children, died after a massive fire erupted in a building in Gulzar Houz near Charminar in Hyderabad early on Sunday.
