The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Saturday denied claims made by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi that India had informed Pakistan in advance of launching Operation Sindoor.
The claim followed External Affairs Minister Dr S. Jaishankar바카라s recent remarks made during an interaction at the Embassy of Honduras in New Delhi. Gandhi, in a post on social media platform X, alleged that Jaishankar had admitted the Government of India alerted Pakistan at the start of the attack. He wrote: 바카라Informing Pakistan at the start of our attack was a crime. EAM has publicly admitted that GOI did it. 1. Who authorised it? 2. How many aircraft did our air force lose as a result?바카라 He also shared a video clip of Jaishankar바카라s comments from the event.
In response, news agency ANI quoted the Ministry of External Affairs as saying 바카라We had warned Pakistan at the start, which is clearly the early phase after Operation Sindoor바카라s commencement. This is being falsely represented as being before the commencement. This utter misrepresentation of facts is being called out.바카라
The MEA clarified that Jaishankar바카라s comments referred to the early phase of the operation and not to any prior intimation before its commencement.
Operation Sindoor began on 7 May 2025, following the Pahalgam terror attack, in which 24 Indian security personnel were killed. Under the operation, the Indian military targeted nine terrorist infrastructure sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK). Pakistani forces conducted retaliatory actions, which were countered by Indian forces under the same operation. An understanding on cessation of hostilities was reached on 10 May 2025.
