New Year's Eve is on us. As India prepares to bid 2024 goodbye, several restrictions have been imposed across key cities to ensure safe celebrations on December 31.
From Delhi to Bengaluru to Mumbai, several rules and restrictions have been imposed to ensure safety and prevent any untoward accidents amid NYE celebrations.
NYE 2024 Rules And Restrictions
Delhi
Delhi Police has ramped up security across the national capital. Over 10,000 officers will be on duty throughout Tuesday. Along with this, special vehicles equipped with CCTV cameras and other surveillance tools have been deployed across the city.
Security has also been tightened at 20 border points and popular spots such as Connaught Place, Hauz Khas, India Gate and other market spots.
Bengaluru
In Bangalore, a ban on masks has been imposed for all citizens stepping outside for NYE 2024 celebrations. Furthermore, Bengaluru Police and BBMP have announced a curfew for NYE celebrations, i.e., all celebrations must end by 1 AM.
In the "last press conference of 2024," Bengaluru Police have issued an advisory to people not to wear "deformed or obscene masks" as it could scare or shock others, especially young children. Furthermore, people have also been asked not to use whistles of any kind during the celebrations.
Major flyovers and highways will be closed after 10 PM, except for the KIA International Airport Elevated Expressway, where two-wheelers are prohibited from 10 PM on December 31 to 6 AM on January 1, 2025. Additionally, the use of fireworks and loudspeakers have been banned.
Mumbai
Maharashtra government has imposed a curfew of 5 AM for NYE 2024 celebrations. Despite the late timing, strict police supervision has been imposed for safety.
As per Mumbai Police, over 15,000 personnel, including eight additional commissioners, 29 deputy commissioners, 53 assistant commissioners, 2,184 officers, and 12,048 constables, have been deployed across key locations in the city.
