Srinagar and other parts of the Kashmir Valley experienced a rise in night temperatures, while the renowned skiing resort of Gulmarg registered the season's coldest at minus 8.0°C on Monday.
According to a meteorological department official, Srinagar's minimum temperature today stood at 0.5°C, marking an increase from the previous night's minus 0.5°C. This rise, 2.0°C above the normal for the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, was reported.
Gulmarg recorded a low of minus 8.0°C, in contrast to the previous night's minus 4.8°C. The temperature was 3.2°C below normal for this renowned skiing destination in north Kashmir.
The 40-day long period of harsh winter cold known locally as the 바카라˜Chillai Kalan바카라™ begins each year on December 21 and ends on January 30.
Notably, the lowest temperature ever recorded in Srinagar was minus 14.4 degrees Celsius in 1893.
