Ashutosh Sharma smashed a 70-ball century on his club cricket debut in England on Saturday. The Delhi Capitals lower-order batter, known for hitting sixes under pressure situations, was playing for Wigan Cricket Club in the 2025 Liverpool and District Cricket Competition, a tournament which is a part of the ECB Premier League structure.
Ashutosh, who plays for Railways in domestic cricket, played a rescue act for Wigan Cricket Club who were struggling at 17-3 in 9.5 overs against Formby CC. The right-hander combined with opener Aveen Dalugod to stitch together a 153-run stand in 23.4 overs and bail their side out of trouble.
Ashutosh played a starring role in this partnership and smashed his century in just 70 balls. However, he could not score any further and was dismissed right after scoring his maiden century in England.
The 26-year-old reached United Kingdom early in the morning and then joined the game to give a brilliant performance.
Ashutosh's IPL side DC were eliminated in the league stage and could not reach the play-offs despite winning their first four games of the season.
KS Bharat is also in England playing club cricket. He recently scored a century playing for Dulwich CC and cracked 134 off 108 balls on debut against Esher CC.
