Bangladesh beat Ireland by five wickets in the second match at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium, Dhaka on Saturday to take an unassailable 2-0 lead. They thrashed Ireland by 154 runs in the opener at the same venue.
The series is part of the ongoing ICC Women's Championship 2022-2025, the main qualifying event for the next year's World Cup. Bangladesh, currently 8th in the 10-team competition, can still earn a direct qualification spot. They need to finish in the top six.
"Our focus right now is on the two points," Nigar said after the second match. "Along with that, there's the aim to whitewash them, something we've never done to any team before. Achieving that would be a milestone for us."
For Ireland, an improved showing in the third ODI would do a world of good as they continue to make the hard yards. And for that to happen, the visitors will need to put up a collective effort. They are already relegated to the Women's Cricket World Cup Qualifier 2025, a second lifelong for teams chasing World Cup qualification.
