India headcoach Gautam Gambhir has confirmed pacer Akash Deep has been ruled out of the New Year바카라™s Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test, starting on Friday, December 3, in Sydney, due to a stiff back. (Full BGT Coverage | More Cricket News)
The 28-year-old pacer had picked five wickets in the third and fourth Tests in Brisbane and Melbourne, and was short on luck with a few catches dropped off his bowling.
The Bihar-born pacer bowled 87.5 overs in the two Tests, and the injury could be attributed to the hard surfaces in Australia and the heavy workload on body.
With India trailing 1-2 in the five match series, either of Harshit Rana or Prasidh Krisha is expected to replace Akash for the Sydney Test.
However, nothing remains certain as India바카라™s selection calls throughout the series have raised a few eyebrows, starting from the first Test in Perth.
