Punjab Kings (PBKS) wicket-keeper batter Josh Inglis scored a stunning half-century against Mumbai Indians (MI) to confirm his side's top-two finish in the league stage of Indian Premier League 2025. (Match Blog)

Inglis played a masterful knock of 73 from just 42 balls to set up PBKS' seven-wicket win over MI which took them to the top of the table and confirmed a top two spot.

Inglis took apart every MI bowler except Jasprit Bumrah against whom he calculated his shots well. His innings included nine fours and three sixes before he was trapped in front of stumps by Mitchell Santner.

Inglis did not start for PBKS when they opened their campaign and was added to the starting XI only after Glenn Maxwell could not find form.

Shreyas Iyer batted at three for a good time this season and the PBKS captain did that with a lot of success. However, towards the end of the season, Iyer pushed himself down to four and the Australian wicket-keeper batter took the one down spot.

It was a massive gamble. Iyer was one of the best batters in the league and was having his best IPL at three but the captain of the Kings sacrificed his position to accommodate Inglis who was having a tough debut season. And Inglis repaid the faith put in him by the PBKS management through some brilliant innings.

Before getting this match-winning half-century, he had scored a 14-ball 30 against Lucknow Super Giants and then another quickfire 12-ball 32 against Delhi Capitals in his next outing.

These were good cameos but a big innings was still missing and Inglis has now managed that as well and helped PBKS to finish in top two to give them two chances at getting into the final.
