Malaysia had a terrible start with the bat as they lost their top three in just 3.4 overs. Amir Khan Malik and Ahmed Aqeel then combined for a partnership but once the duo fell, Malaysia could not finish in the way they would have liked. A poor start and an underwhelming finishing meant Malaysia could only reach 135/7.
Ishtiaq Ahemd and Imtiaz Khan, the new ball bowling pair for Saudi Arabia, accounted for five Malaysia wickets combined.
Result
Chasing 136, Saudi Arabia kept losing wickets right from the beginning. They could not put up partnerships and batters just could not apply themselves in the middle. Saudi Arabia were 71/7 in the 13th over when they finally found a small partnership but that was not enough.
Ultimately, Saudi Arabia were bowled out for 117 in 19.2 overs with four Malaysian bowlers taking two wickets each.
Earlier in the day, Singapore clinched the third spot in the four nation tournament by beating Thailand by 30 runs.
