Super Giants' decision to bat first on a spicy wicket backfired as Marco Jansen and Richard Gleeson struck twice each to reduce DSG to 18/4 in the powerplay. The Super Giants could never recover from the shocking start. Kane Williamson scored a slow 44 to take them close to 100 before a 15-ball 30 from Naveen-ul-Haq took DSG to 115/8 in 20 overs.
The chase was killed upfront by opener David Bedingham who raced to 20-ball 39 before departing. Captain Aiden Markram then guided Sunrisers Eastern Cape to a victory with bonus point.
This became the second consecutive victory for Sunrisers who started the tournament with three losses. The two wins, both against the Super Giants and with bonus point, has taken the Sunrisers to the fourth place in the standings.
Super Giants, on the other hand, have slipped to the last place in the table with just one win in five matches.
