Ahead of leading Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) final on 3 June, Virat Kohli has run into legal trouble as the Bengaluru-based pub One8 Commune, which he co-owns and promotes, has been booked for not having a designated smoking zone. The Cubbon Police, on 31 May, registered an FIR against the pub바카라s manager and staff under the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA).
The development occurred as a result of a police patrol on 29 May, and the establishment, located at Kasturba Road, has been booked under Sections 4 and 21 of COTPA, which prohibit smoking in public places and prescribe penalties for such infractions.
11 other high-profile clubs and bars have also been booked under various sections of COTPA by the Bengaluru police as a part of their anti-tobacco violation drive.
This is not the first time that One8 has been on the wrong side of the law. In December 2024, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) issued a notice to the pub for operating without a mandatory fire safety clearance from the Fire Department.
Even earlier, in July 2024, the pub was found operating beyond the permissible hours, serving customers until 1:30 AM, exceeding the closing time limit by thirty minutes.
Kohli바카라s Legal Battles Amid IPL Final Battle Against PBKS
Amidst these developments, Kohli has the duty of being RCB바카라s talisman during the IPL 2025 final against Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Tuesday.
RCB, with just three play-off appearances before, are aiming for their maiden IPL title under the captaincy of Rajat Patidar. Kohli has been his team바카라s best batter this season, with 614 runs in 14 matches at an average of 55.
Meanwhile, PBKS, too, are trying to win their first-ever IPL title, with head coach Ricky Ponting and captain Shreyas Iyer looking to make history for Preity Zinta바카라s side.
