Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner believes loanee Ben Chilwell can reignite his career at the club following his move from Chelsea. (More Football News)
Chilwell was not in head coach Enzo Maresca바카라s plans at Stamford Bridge and made a deadline-day switch on loan to the Eagles, having featured for Chelsea just once all season, in the EFL Cup against Barrow.
The England international is without an appearance in the Premier League since April 2024, but Glasner has already been impressed by Chilwell바카라s application in training and hopes he can help the side in the second half of the season.
"It can be a big chance for him,바카라 said Glasner.
바카라He has to compete with Tyrick Mitchell because he has had an excellent season for us, very consistent on a very high level. But he [Chilwell] is doing really well in training.
바카라Ben played many games for Chelsea and then, for reasons I don't know and I don't care, he didn't play.
바카라That was the only opportunity that we could sign him here, because if he is a starter for Chelsea, we don't have a chance to sign him.바카라
Despite not being able to train with Chelsea바카라s first-team squad throughout January, Glasner is hopeful Chilwell can make his debut in the FA Cup's fourth round this weekend, away to League Two outfit Doncaster Rovers.
He added: "Unfortunately, he couldn't take part in Chelsea's team training in January.
"Team training is a little bit different, so we have to give him some days and maybe weeks, but the plan is he will get minutes at Doncaster."
