Sports Live Today, May 13:Â Tamil Nadu Forced To Withdraw From FIBA West Asia Super League Due To India-Pakistan Conflict
Tamil Nadu, the South Asian Basketball Association Club champions, have been forced to withdraw from the 2025 FIBA West Asia Super League Final 8 due to the ongoing conflict between India and Pakistan.
FIBA confirmed the team's inability to participate after over 12 hours of waiting at the airport and the closure of more than 30 airports, making travel to Lebanon impossible.
As a result, all games involving Tamil Nadu have been cancelled. Tamil Nadu had qualified for the tournament by winning the South Asian Basketball Association Club title and was placed in Group B alongside Shabab Al Ahli, Tabiat Basketball, and Al Qadisa SC.
With their withdrawal, Group B now only features three teams: Shabab Al Ahli, Tabiat, and Al Qadisa. The escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, following a terrorist attack and retaliatory military actions, have led to severe disruptions in air travel across the region.
