After weeks of hot and humid weather, Delhi is expected to welcome the southwest monsoon on Tuesday, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). In preparation, the IMD has issued a yellow alert for the national capital today, warning residents of possible light to moderate rainfall, thunderstorms, and gusty winds reaching speeds of 30 to 40 km/h.

The monsoon is officially expected to reach Delhi by June 24, bringing much-needed relief from the sultry conditions that have gripped the region.
The city recorded a maximum temperature of 36.2°C on Sunday, slightly below the seasonal average by 1.3 degrees. The minimum temperature stood at 28.4°C, with humidity levels peaking at 78% in the evening, according to the IMD. Only 0.1 mm of rainfall was recorded on Saturday, accompanied by light winds, reported news agency PTI.
Monday바카라™s forecast suggests a high of around 34°C and a low of approximately 27°C, with increasing cloud cover and the likelihood of rainfall later in the day. Meteorologists say that the conditions are now favourable for the monsoon바카라™s advancement into Delhi, Chandigarh, and other parts of northwest India over the next 48 hours.

Meanwhile, Delhi바카라™s air quality showed a marked improvement on Sunday, with the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) recording an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 98 at 4 p.m. 바카라” placing it in the 바카라˜satisfactory바카라™ category.
Beyond Delhi, the IMD forecasts that the southwest monsoon will soon advance into the remaining parts of the North Arabian Sea, Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, West Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu.
Heavy to very heavy rainfall is also expected in several other regions between June 23 and 26, including Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, and the Konkan and Goa areas. Notably, Gujarat may witness extremely heavy rainfall today, while eastern Madhya Pradesh is likely to see intense downpours on June 23 and 24.
Residents in Delhi and surrounding areas are advised to stay updated with local weather alerts and take precautions, especially during thunderstorms and heavy rains.
