Mission Impossible - The Final Reckoning, starring Tom Cruise, released in India, Japan, South Korea, and Australia-New Zealand on May 17, six days ahead of its US release. In India, it received a thunderous opening, the biggest Hollywood opener in 2025.
Mission Impossible 8 box office collection in India
On Saturday, on the day of release, Mission Impossible 8 collected Rs 16.5 crore at the box office, as per a report on Sacnilk.com. For the unversed, 2023's Mission: Impossible-- Dead Reckoning opened at Rs 12 crore.
On Day 2, the 8th instalment of the spy franchise earned Rs 16.5 crore as per early estimates. The total box office collection of Mission Impossible 8 in India stands at Rs 33 crore. It is expected to cross the Rs 50 crore mark, in the first week itself.
It had an overall 41.84% English occupancy on Sunday, with maximum footfall of 51.70% in the evening shows and minimum occupancy of 28.93% in the morning shows.
Mission Impossible 8 has surpassed the lifetime hauls of several Marvel films, including Thunderbolts, and Captain America: Brave New World. It would be interesting to see if it manages to maintain the momentum on Monday and other weekdays or not.
The film will hit the US theatres on May 23, and as per trade experts' predictions, Mission Impossible 8 will be the first film in the spy franchise to hit a billion dollars at the worldwide box office.
Mission Impossible - The Final Reckoning received positive reviews from critics and audiences. Fans have been in awe of Tom Cruise for performing death-defying stunts. They have been calling it the "greatest action movies of all time". Apart from the stunts and Cruise's performance, the direction, editing, background score, everything has been raved.
Directed by Christopher McQuarrie, the film was recently screened out of competition at the 78th edition of Cannes Film Festival, where it earned a five-minute standing ovation.
