Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning, starring Tom Cruise in the lead, has hit Indian theatres on Saturday, May 17, six days before its release in the US. It had its world premiere in Tokyo on May 5, 2025. The eighth of the long-running spy franchise sees Cruise reprising his iconic character Ethan Hunt. He returns to embark on yet another high-octane ride, with some more death-defying stunts. Hunt is into a battle against the powerful AI, called the 'Entity'.
The early reviews on X are out, after the press screenings and its release, and it has received mixed reactions from netizens. However, Mission Impossible 8 seems to be a blockbuster. Have a look at some of the reactions here.

One user lauded the "death defying stunts loaded with action" and called it an "one man show". One raved the underwater sequence and the climax of the film. Many praised Tom Cruise for pulling off such jaw-dropping stunts even at the age of 62.
Mission Impossible 8 has also left a section of netizens disappointed. One X user wrote its "too long & overstuffed", while one called it a "mediocre" film.
Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning, directed by Christopher McQuarrie was screened out of competition at the 78th edition of the Cannes Film Festival. Alongside Tom and McQuarrie, the other cast members of the film including Simon Pegg, Hannah Waddingham, Hayley Atwell, Esai Morales, Pom Klementieff, Angela Bassett, and Greg Tarzan Davis attended the red carpet and the screening.
The film earned a five-minute standing ovation at the Grand Theatre Lumiere on May 14.
Mission Impossible 8 will release in France on May 21, and on May 23 in the US.
