Actress Valerie Mahaffey passed away on Friday, after her battle with cancer in Los Angeles. She is survived by her husband, Joseph Kell, and their daughter, Alice.

Emmy-winning actor Valerie Mahaffey, best known for her roles in Desperate Housewives, Young Sheldon and Dead to Me, passed away on Friday, May 30, in Los Angeles. She was 71.

As per a report in Variety, Mahaffey바카라™s husband, actor Joseph Kell, confirmed her death saying she died after a battle with cancer.

바카라œI have lost the love of my life, and America has lost one of its most endearing actresses. She will be missed,바카라 Kell said.

Valerie Mahaffey's acting career

Valerie started her acting career by appearing on Broadway from 1976-84. She acted in soap opera The Doctors (1979-81), Tales of the Unexpected (1984), Seinfeld, Wings, Newhart, Cheers, The Mindy Project and more.

Mahaffey played Alma Hodge, ex-wife of Kyle MacLachlan바카라™s Orson Hodge, in Desperate Housewives. She also made her appearance as teacher Victoria MacElroy in Young Sheldon from 2017-20.

She was also seen in the Apple TV+ series Echo 3, David E. Kelley바카라™s detective drama series Big Sky, on ABC in 2020 and 2021. In Netflix바카라™s first two seasons of Dead to Me (2019-22), Mahaffey played Lorna Harding, opposite Christina Applegate.

The actress also starred in small roles in popular shows, like Boston Legal (2008), Hannah Montana (2010), and Grey's Anatomy (2013), among others.

Apart from her career in television, Valerie also appeared in several films including Senior Trip and Women of the House (1995), Jungle 2 Jungle (1997), Seabiscuit (2003), Summer Eleven (2010), Jack and Jill (2011), Sully (2016), and 2020 indie film French Exit opposite Michelle Pfeiffer and Lucas Hedges. For French Exit, she bagged an Independent Spirit Award nomination for her role as Madame Reynard in the dark comedy.

Her swansong, GRQ the Movie, will release posthumously.

In 1980, Valerie Mahaffey bagged the nomination for the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for The Doctors. In 1992, she won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for her role in Northern Exposure.
