Tamil filmmaker Vikram Sugumaran, who made his directorial debut with Madha Yaanai Koottam has breathed his last on Monday, June 2, due to cardiac arrest in Chennai, as per reports.
Shanthnu Bhagyaraj. who played the lead role in Sugumaran's last film, Raavana Kottam, took to X to condole Vikram Sugumaran's death.
He wrote, "#Rip dearest brother @VikramSugumara3 I바카라ve learnt so much from you & will always cherish every moment Gone too soon You will be missed".
Actor Kayal Devaraj is shocked to learn about Vikram Sugumaran's death. "June 2, I really can't believe this news. Director and actor Vikram Sugumaran passed away suddenly due to a heart attack while coming to Chennai from Madurai by bus," he wrote on X.
As per reports, after narrating a story to a producer in Madurai, Sugumaran was about to board a bus to Chennai. He suffered chest pain and was taken to hospital.
Who was Vikram Sugumaran?
Vikram Sugumaran was from Paramakudi in Ramanathapuram district, Tamil Nadu. His journey in films began when he joined as an assistant to legendary filmmaker Balu Mahendra from 1999 to 2000. He did several short films during that time period, and was also part of projects like Julie Ganapathy in that phase.
He made his acting debut came with director Vetrimaaran바카라s Polladhavan. and also starred in Sasikumar바카라s Kodiveeran.
In 2013, Vikram made his directorial debut with Madha Yaanaik Koottam, which was set in rural Tamil Nadu. The film received rave reviews.
After a long hiatus, in 2023, he directed Ravana Kottam, starring Shanthanu, Anandhi, Prabhu, and Ilavarasu.
Vikram's last film was Raava Kottam in 2023. He was also working on a film titled Therum Porum, which revolves around mountaineering and climbing.
He also wrote the dialogue of National Award-winning Tamil film Aadukalam (2011).
