The Ukrainian Delegation has mandated to discuss ceasefire with Russia, Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said as per AFP News Agency.
A senior Ukrainian official, according to AFP, said that the Ukraine delegation will meet Russian negotiators in Istanbul Thursday for talks, and Zelensky will not travel.
Instead, AFP reported that Zelensky said that Ukraine's defencse minister to lead team at Russia talks.
Zelenskyy is dispatching a delegation led by Defense Minister Rustem Umerov to Istanbul for what will be the first direct peace talks with a Russian delegation since March 2022, shortly after the full-scale invasion began. The move follows Putin바카라s refusal to attend the talks personally, despite Zelenskyy바카라s recent challenge for a direct meeting in Turkey.
While addressing reporters in Ankara, Zelenskyy criticized the composition of the Russian delegation, saying it includes no one 바카라who actually makes decisions,바카라 and accused Moscow of not taking peace efforts seriously.
The Russian delegation to Istanbul is being led by Vladimir Medinsky, a presidential aide who headed Moscow바카라s team in the failed 2022 negotiations. Notably absent from the Russian side are Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and top foreign policy advisor Yuri Ushakov.
On the Ukrainian side, the delegation includes Umerov, Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha, and Andriy Yermak, head of the presidential office. Presidential adviser Mykhailo Podolyak reiterated that Zelenskyy would only negotiate directly with Putin.
