At least 11 people were hospitalised on Sunday night following a shooting in a South Carolina beach town, according to authorities. The shooting took place at around 9:30 PM in Little River. Horry County police have not revealed the conditions of anyone hurt in the shooting.
The police confirmed on social media that more victims were arriving at the hospital in private vehicles. The police have not released any information pertaining to the shooting but confirmed it to be an isolated incident. The shooting occurred in a residential neighbourhood housing a few boating businesses near the intracoastal waterway, as reported by AP.
North Myrtle Beach spokeswoman Lauren Jessie asserted that a North Myrtle Beach police officer, who was responding to the shooting call, accidentally shot himself in the leg about 3 kilometres away from the site.
Several videos have surfaced where ambulances and police vehicles can be seen rushing around the area.
