In a fresh turn of events, Sambhal바카라s Shahi Jama Masjid is set to receive a new signboard by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), which labels the mosque as 바카라Juma Masjid바카라 replacing its commonly known name.
바카라An ASI board was earlier installed outside the mosque but was allegedly removed by certain individuals who replaced it with a board calling it 'Shahi Jama Masjid,바카라 ASI바카라s counsel Vishnu Sharma told PTI.
The board replacing the previous 바카라Shahi Jama Masjid바카라 sign will be installed soon, although the timing of when it will be set up remains unknown. It is currently held at the Satyavrat police outpost.
Sharma continued to say that a similar blue ASI board is already present inside the mosque premises bearing the same name.
바카라During the arguments in the Allahabad High Court regarding a petition for whitewashing the mosque before Ramzan recently, a debate arose in court regarding the mosque바카라s original name,바카라 Indian Express quoted an ASI official. 바카라A 1927 agreement between the Government of India and the mosque committee refers to it as Juma Masjid, and the structure is referred to as the same in ASI records. We are just calling the structure by its original name바카라no one should have any objection,바카라 the official said.
What happened in Sambhal last year?
The Mughal-era mosque, which remains protected by ASI, has been mired in controversy since last November when communal violence broke out in Sambhal after a court-ordered survey. The survey was based on a petition claiming that a Harihar temple stood in the mosque바카라s stead.
The violence claimed four lives, injuring at least two dozen security personnel and administration officials, according to official reports.
Zafar Ali, president of the Shahi Jama Masjid, was arrested last month in the case related to November violence. The bail hearing has since been deferred twice, once on March 27 and another on April 4, after Sambal police failed to produce critical evidence in court, Hindustan Times reported.
The mosque is the oldest surviving Mughal-era mosque, according to The Indian Express. In an earlier legal altercation in 1878, a suit was filed by the Hindu side in a Moradabad court and an appeal in the Allahabad Court, but was dismissed by the then Chief Justice Sir Robert Stuart.
Holi Celebration, Friday Prayers Row
Fresh tensions escalated on the ground last month when the Hindu festival of Holi coincided with Friday prayers in the holy month of Ramzan, leading to a peace committee meeting.
바카라Holi is a festival that comes once a year, whereas Friday prayers take place 52 times in a year. If anyone feels uncomfortable with the colours of Holi, they should stay indoors on that day. Those who step out should have a broad mindset, as festivals are meant to be celebrated together,바카라 Sambhal Circle Officer Anuj Chaudhary told reporters after the meeting.
Taking out a procession is a part of Holi tradition, as a precautionary measure to which 10 muslim religious places that were on the procession바카라s route were covered by tarpaulin so that no one바카라s sentiments are hurt, Sambhal바카라s ASP Shrish Chandra told ANI.
The police implemented stringent security measures and extensive surveillance via drones and CCTV cameras to prevent any potential law-and-order problems. The Holi celebration alongside Friday prayers went on to be concluded peacefully.
