Delhi Weather: The inclement weather condition affected fight operations significantly. According to the Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL), which operates the airport, some flights were affected owing to inclement weather conditions. IMD has advised people to stay indoors, close windows and avoid travelling till the inclement weather subsides. Besides the national capital region, according to IMD, severe thunderstorms with squally winds and heavy rainfall are likely in parts of north, east and south India as well.

Air India in its advisory wrote, "Thunderstorms and gusty winds have affected flight operations in parts of Northern India. Some of our flights to and from Delhi are being delayed, which is likely to impact our overall flight schedule."

"We are doing our best to minimise disruptions. We advise our guests to check the latest status of their flights here before heading to the airport", they added.

Delhi Weather LIVE Updates: Over 120 Flights Delayed

As per media reports, around 120 flights delayed this morning due to adverse weather conditions.

NDTV reported that three flights were diverted to Ahmedabad and Jaipur ahead of their arrival at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International airport. A Bangalore-Delhi and another Pune-Delhi flights were among those diverted to Jaipur.

The Delhi airport is currently witnessed average delays of 17 minutes for arrivals and 50 minutes for departures, as per FlightRadar.

A police told PTI that in Dwarka's Chhawla area, 41-year-old Omprakash (41) and his two sons Love (13) and Saurabh (15) have received minor injuries in a wall collapse.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka) Ankit Singh said at 5.26 am, a PCR call was received reporting the house collapse. When police reached the spot, it was found that due to strong winds, a neem tree had fallen on a room built in Kharkhari Nahar village near Jaffarpur Kalan in Dwarka district, causing it to collapse, Singh said.

Power cuts hit homes across Delhi after an early Friday downpour uprooted several trees and electrical installations.

A Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited (TPDDL) spokesperson told PTI it received 22 power cut complaints, which were restored within a few minutes to one hour.

"The thunderstorm, heavy rainfall, and strong winds resulted in power disruptions and caused damages to the power lines with uprooted trees and branches falling onto them. Electricity supply was temporarily suspended in certain areas as a precautionary measure to prevent electrocution," he said.

Himachal Pradesh state capital Shimla and its surrounding area of Jubbarhatti were lashed by hailstorm, while several places in Himachal Pradesh received rains, the weather office said on Friday.

Gusty winds were witnessed in Kufri, Bilapsur, Reckong Peo, Bajura, Narkanada and Tabo while thunderstorm occurred in Shimla, Jubbarhatti, Sundernagar, Jot, Bhuntar, Murari Devi, Kufri and Kangra, the Met said.

Since Thursday evening, Solan received 39 mm of rain followed by Ghaghas 33.8 mm, Raipur Maidan 26.6 mm, Bilapsur 26 mm, Rajgarh 25 mm, Mehre Barsar 25 mm, baggi 22.9 mm, Pachhad 20 mm, Olinda 17.8 mm, Kufri and Neri 17 mm each, Slapper 16.9 mm and Shimla 11 mm.

The Met station has issued an orange alert of hailstorm at isolated places in the state on Friday and orange and yellow warning of thunderstorm, lightning and gusty winds with a speed of up to 30-50 kmph till next Thursday.
