The All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS), Delhi, will start screening children for clinical trials of Bharat Biotech바카라™s Covaxin from June 7, 2021. This comes days after Bharat Biotech began clinical trials of its Covid-19 vaccine on children aged 2 to 18 years at AIIMS Patna.Â
The trials are commencing after the Drugs Controller General of India바카라™s (DCGI) nod for the Phase 2 and 3 clinical trials of Covaxin on children. Â
Covaxin, indigenously developed by Bharat Biotech in collaboration with the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), is being used in adults in India바카라™s ongoing Covid-19 vaccination drive.
India started the world바카라™s largest vaccination drive on January 16 this year in a phased manner with healthcare workers (HCWs) getting inoculated first. The vaccination of frontline workers (FLWs) started on February 2.
The next phase of Covid-19 vaccination commenced from March 1 for those over 60 years of age and for people aged 45 and above with specified co-morbid conditions. India launched vaccination for all people aged more than 45 from April 1.
The third phase of the vaccination started on May 1 for the beneficiary aged between 18-44.
