The Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) meeting for 바카라˜One Nation, One Election바카라™ is currently in progress. The 39-member committee comprises 27 Members from the Lok Sabha and 12 Members from the Rajya Sabha.
In its first session, the committee is scheduled to interact with Justice Hemant Gupta, former judge of the Supreme Court and Dr B S Chauhan, retired Supreme Court Judge and Chairman of the 21st Law Commission of India, a government press release said.
But what is One Nation One Election and what outcome could the JPC come out with?
What Is One Nation, One Election?
One Nation, One Election is a concept that proposes holding elections for the Lok Sabha (India바카라™s national parliament) and all state legislative assemblies at the same time, once every five years. Currently, elections are held at different times throughout the year as various state governments complete their terms.
The idea behind this proposal is to streamline the electoral process, reduce government spending, and allow elected leaders to focus more on governance rather than constantly being in campaign mode.
Advocating for the "One Nation One Election" initiative, President Droupadi Murmu had earlier said that the proposed bill has the potential to redefine "good governance" in the country by promoting consistency in governance, preventing policy paralysis, mitigating resource diversion, and alleviating financial burdens on the state.
"The 'One Nation One Election' plan can offer numerous benefits, including enhanced governance and reduced financial strain", Murmu said, as per PTI.
Agenda Of JPC Meeting
The meeting of the JPC on One Nation One Election is currently underway at Parliament House.
Talking to the media in New Delhi, JPC Chairperson on One Nation One Election, P P Chaudhary, said that the One Nation One Election is in the national interest as it would benefit the economy. He said that frequent elections cause inconveniences to the education system, affecting students and teachers, and also require extensive deployment of paramilitary forces, Election Commission personnel and logistical arrangements.
