Kolkata's Kumartuli: The Home Of The Goddess

Kolkata's Kumartuli is the traditional hub of potters who make the idols that are central to the city's Durga Puja festivities. It is here that artisans make images of Goddess Durga from clay over months. The photos by Naveen Kishore capture the cycle of life at Kumartuli where clay is turned into Goddess and then, upon immersion each year, the cycle of rebirth for the next year's festivities starts again.
