Maharashtra Minister Dhananjay Munde has submitted his resignation and stepped down from his post on Tuesday. This development comes after his aide was arrested in the Beed sarpanch murder case.
Munde's resignation was accepted and confirmed by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
Munde, who holds the portfolios of food and civil supplies, was asked to step down by the CM after his former aide Walmik Karad was arrested for his alleged role in the murder of Santosh Deshmukh, the sarpanch of Massajog village in Beed.
Maharashtra Minister Dhananjay Munde has tendered his resignation today. I have accepted the resignation and sent it to the Governor for further course of action," Fadnavis told reporters on Tuesday morning.
What Is The Beed Murder Case?
Santosh Deshmukh, 45, the three-time Sarpanch of Massajog village was kidnapped, tortured and murdered on December 9, 2024. As per reports, his murder came after he resisted an extortion bid.
After police investigation, Walmik Karad and other accused were arrested under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA).
