While the suspense remains after Shinde resigned on Tuesday to fulfill a constitutional requirement, the political tensions have escalated within the Mahayuti coalition.

He emphasized that the BJP had made it clear during the election campaign that the decision on the chief minister would be based on the electoral outcome, which favored Fadnavis' leadership, given the BJP secured 132 seats in the 288-member Assembly.
