Misri바카라s Washington Mission: Boosting India-U.S. Financial Ties And FATF Push After Indo-Pak Ceasefire

The meeting comes against the backdrop of the India-Pakistan escalation last month that ended with the United States President Donald Trump announcing a ceasefire on May 10 - claiming that it was the U.S. that brokered the truce.

Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri on May 27 went on an official three-day-visit to United States바카라 capital Washington D.C. and held meetings with senior U.S. officials. Discussions involved ways to deepen economic ties, including collaboration in international financial institutions and coordination in the upcoming Financial Action Task Force (FATF) processes.

The meeting comes against the backdrop of the India-Pakistan escalation last month that ended with the United States President Donald Trump announcing a ceasefire on May 10 - claiming that it was the U.S. that brokered the truce. However, India바카라s Minister of External Affairs, S Jaishankar, has stated that the ceasefire was reached through bilateral understanding directly negotiated between India and Pakistan and not through a third-party mediation.

The MEA statement on Misri바카라s visit mentions, 바카라With Deputy Secretary of the Treasury Michael Faulkender, the Foreign Secretary discussed ways to deepen economic and financial ties, including collaboration in international financial institutions and coordination in the upcoming Financial Action Task Force (FATF) processes.바카라

The FATF is an intergovernmental watchdog based in Paris that decides criteria for combating money laundering and terror financing. India has plans of sending a detailed dossier to the watchdog, to re-include Pakistan into its 바카라Grey List.바카라

Pakistan was in the grey list in 2018 but was removed in 2022.

India And Pakistan Post Ceasefire

India is intensifying international pressure on Pakistan through a multifaceted approach - from statements at the UN Security Council Open Debate to global outreach through all-party delegation promoting India바카라s zero tolerance policy towards terrorism.

바카라India has experienced decades of Pakistani-sponsored terrorist attacks across our borders. For such a nation to even participate in a discussion on the protection of civilians is an affront to the international community. A nation that makes no distinction between terrorists and civilians has no credentials to speak about protecting civilians,바카라 Parvathaneni Harish, India's Permanent Representative to the United Nations said at the UN Security Council Open Debate last month.

He also mentioned that Pakistan바카라s 바카라state-sponsored cross-border terrorism in India seeks to hold hostage the lives of civilians, religious harmony and economic prosperity.바카라

He went on to say that it is Pakistan which remains in violation of the Indus Waters Treaty. He said, throughout the six and a half decades, Pakistan has violated the spirit of that treaty by inflicting three wars and thousands of terror attacks on India, adding that over 20,000 Indians have been killed in terrorist attacks in the last 40 years.

Jaishankar, during his May 19-20 visit to Netherland, spoke to the Dutch media about Pakistan바카라s government being part of the terror infrastructure there and said, 바카라I am not suggesting that, I am stating that. Suppose that there were large military centres in the middle of a city like Amsterdam, where tens of thousands of people gathered for military training, would you say that your government knows nothing about that? Of course not.바카라

바카라We should not go along with the narrative that Pakistan does not know what is going on. The most notorious terrorists on the United Nations (UN) sanctions list are all in Pakistan. They operate in the big cities, in broad daylight. Their addresses are known. Their activities are known. Their mutual contacts are known. So let바카라s not pretend that Pakistan is not involved. The state is involved. The army is up to its neck in it바카라 Let바카라s not pretend that Pakistan is not involved.바카라 The Indian Express quoted the external affairs minister.

What Else Was On The Agenda?

Misri held wide-ranging discussions with counterparts across the Department of State, National Security Council, Department of Defense, Department of the Treasury, and the Department of Commerce. He met with Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau and both sides reviewed the full spectrum of the bilateral agenda.

In his meeting with Under Secretary of Commerce Jeffrey Kessler, both sides reviewed progress on the India-U.S. Bilateral Trade Agreement, cooperation in critical and emerging technologies.

Detailed inter-agency discussions were also held on a range of strategic areas including defence cooperation, energy security, TRUST initiative, counter-terrorism, the Indian Ocean Strategic Venture, and collaboration through platforms such as the Quad, I2U2, and IMEEC.
