The Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly was thrown into chaos on Tuesday as opposition Samajwadi Party (SP) members protested during Governor Anandiben Patel바카라s address to the House, forcing an hour-long adjournment.
The protests centred around multiple issues, with the SP raising slogans such as 바카라Governor, go back바카라 and 바카라Give figures of deaths in Kumbh바카라 in response to concerns over the Kumbh stampede and other government policies.
Governor Patel, facing the uproar, managed to deliver her speech in just over 8 minutes. Following the disturbance, the proceedings of the Assembly were adjourned at 11:22 am and resumed at 12:30 pm.
The protests intensified ahead of the Budget session, with SP members staging a demonstration outside the House. Carrying banners and placards, they called attention to issues including the Kumbh stampede in Sambhal and the high unemployment rates in the state.
Senior SP MLA Amitabh Trivedi accused the government of misreporting the number of deaths at the Maha Kumbh Mela, demanding an official discussion on the matter.
SP spokesperson Rajendra Chaudhary criticized the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government, describing it as 바카라anti-people and anti-farmer.바카라 According to Chaudhary, the government has failed on multiple fronts, and the current Budget session marks yet another attempt by the BJP to avoid addressing critical issues.
CM Yogi Adityanath바카라s response to the protests
Responding to the protests, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath assured the Assembly that the government was open to discussing all the issues raised by the opposition.
바카라The government is ready for discussion on every issue,바카라 Yogi stated, emphasizing that the opposition's routine protests were an attempt to derail the proceedings. He also stressed that the Budget session, running from February 18 to March 5, would be an opportunity for open discussion on all matters concerning the state.
Yogi further added that the development initiatives of the double-engine BJP government over the past eight years had set unprecedented standards for Uttar Pradesh. He indicated that the opposition, unable to match the government's achievements, resorted to obstructing House proceedings.
In an effort to promote inclusivity and linguistic diversity in the Assembly, Speaker Satish Mahana also made an important announcement. He revealed that, beginning this session, members of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly would be able to speak in Awadhi, Bhojpuri, Bundeli, and Braj dialects. These dialects will also be used for translating discussions in the House, ensuring that the proceedings are more accessible to a wider section of the population.
Mahana had earlier addressed an all-party meeting on Monday, urging all parties to cooperate for the smooth functioning of the session. The inclusion of regional dialects is seen as a step towards preserving Uttar Pradesh's cultural heritage while fostering better communication within the Assembly.
The state budget for the fiscal year 2025-26 is set to be presented on February 20.
