The suicide of the 21-year-old student preparing for the NEET exam has sparked a political row in Tamil Nadu. The student allegedly died by suicide in fear of failing the medical entrance examination in Chennai on Friday.

Following the student's death, the opposition has questioned the MK Stalin-led government about its poll promise of banning the NEET exam in Tamil Nadu.

Taking to X, Opposition ADMK general secretary Edappadi Palaniswami said the death of another NEET aspirant was "shocking". The opposition leader also took the chance to ask the DMK government about their 2021 poll promise of abolishing NEET in the state.

"Doesn't the DMK, which lied and deceived by saying that there would be no NEET exam in Tamil Nadu if it comes to power, bothered by continuing student suicides over NEET?바카라 he said on X.

The former chief minister also listed the series of NEET suicides since September 2019 and accused Stalin of having "blood on his hands."

"Not only did the DMK introduce the NEET exam to the country, and along with the coalition party, it took it all the way to the Supreme Court to argue against it, laying the foundation for destroying the medical dreams of Tamil Nadu students, but it also lied and deceived them by saying, "If it comes to power, there will be no NEET exam in Tamil Nadu," and the continuing NEET deaths are not a cause for concern for the DMK," he added further.

In 2021, the DMK government passed the Tamil Nadu Admission to Undergraduate Medical Courses Act, 2021, which calls for the state to be exempted from the NEET exam.

As per the Stalin government, the NEET exam is "against the principles of social justice" and disadvantages the students from underprivileged communities who wish to pursue medical education.
