The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasted continuous rainfall and thunderstorm activity across several regions of the country over the next seven days.

According to the May 17 weather bulletin, fairly widespread to widespread light/moderate rainfall accompanied with thunderstorm, lightning & gusty winds speed are expected across regions in the country.

Delhi: Rain Expected After Dust Storm

According to PTI, IMD has forecast a thunderstorm with rain for Saturday. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to settle around 42 degrees Celsius and 28 degrees Celsius, respectively.

On Friday, a day after a dust storm hit Delhi, rain lashed many parts of the city amid strong winds and a cloudy sky. Safdarjung weather station recorded 1.4 mm of rainfall between 2:30 pm and 5:30 pm, according to data from the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

Rain, accompanied by a light thunderstorm, lightning and gusty winds with a speed of 30 to 60 kilometres per hour, was reported from several areas, including Narela, Bawana, Burari, Rohini, Karawal Nagar, Delhi University, Mundka, Punjabi Bagh, Kashmiri Gate, Buddha Jayanti Park, ITO, Jafarpur, Najafgarh, Delhi Cantonment, Safdarjung, Lodi Road and parts of the National Capital Region (NCR).

Andhra To Experience Thunderstorms, Heavy Rains Till May 20

IMD on Friday said thunderstorms are expected in parts of Andhra Pradesh from May 16 to 20, accompanied by lightning and gusty winds reaching speeds of up to 60 km per hour. In addition to thunderstorms, heavy rainfall is expected in the same regions.

Heavy rainfall is also forecast in parts of Rayalaseema on Monday and Tuesday.

"There will be no significant change in maximum temperatures from Day 1 (May 16) to Day 7 (May 22), with a slight tendency to fall over Andhra Pradesh and Yanam," the IMD release stated.

Heavy Rain Expected In Kerala Next Week

Very heavy rainfall is predicted for the northern districts of Kerala from next week. The IMD issued an orange alert in Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod districts for Monday while an orange alert has been issued in Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod districts for Tuesday.

Besides that, it also issued a yellow alert in six districts바카라”Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod바카라”for Sunday (May 18).

Additionally, the IMD predicted thunderstorms and strong winds with a speed of 30 to 40 kmph at isolated places in Kerala from Friday to Tuesday.

An orange alert means very heavy rain of 11 cm to 20 cm, and a yellow alert means heavy rainfall between 6 cm and 11 cm
