India Vs Australia, 4th Test Day 2 Highlights: Jaiswal Run Out Triggers Dramatic Late Collapse; IND Still 310 Runs Behind

We have begun. Mohammed Siraj is bowling the first over of the new day while Steve Smith is on strike. Pat Cummins on the non-striker's end.

An over from Siraj and then from Akash Deep from the other end and now Rohit Sharma has pushed Bumrah into the attack. India want wickets and they know he is their main man. Can Bumrah take out Smith early today?

A good over. Bumrah forces Smith to edge the last ball of the over but the ball rolls over to the boundary.

Bumrah is consistently producing unplayable deliveries. Smith is managing to survive somehow. Three balls in this over and Bumrah takes them all away from Smith after pitching in the off stump corridor. The ball beats the outside edge on all occasions and Smith survives.

Another half-century partnership in this innings and India are being frustrated by Smith and Cummins. A poor delivery on Smith's legs from Akash Deep and the batter glances the ball to the fine leg fence for four. This boundary takes the partnership to 51.

Pat Cummins has decided he wants to take on the short ball. Akash Deep's short balls are not rising much and Cummins, twice in this over, just backed away and slammed the balls on the off-side for fours. A big over and Akash leaks 15 runs from it. Cummins has moved past 30 now.

Not in total control but Smith will not complain. A well directed bouncer from Bumrah and Smith takes him on with a hook. Not timed well but the ball lands outside the fence and we get the first six of the day. Smith moves into the 90s.

34th Test century for Steven Smith. MCG is loving it. This is the loudest it has been today. Smith completes his fifth ton at this ground and eleventh against India through a four off Nitish Kumar Reddy on the last ball of the over. Smith has been really good in this innings and now despite a poor start to the series, he has back-to-back centuries.

Australia have crossed 400 and now they seem to be in a hurry. 12 runs from this Mohammed Siraj over. A hook over fine leg for a six followed by a slap through the extra cover region for a four. Smith is now putting India under the pump.

Jadeja dismisses Cummins! First wicket of the day and it is Ravindra Jadeja with his golden arm. Cummins wants to go over mid off but does not time it well and hands an easy catch to Nitish Reddy. The Australian captain has to depart for 49 and the 112-run stand has been broken.

Starc is the new man in and he finishes the over without any further damage.

Steve Smith is becoming unstoppable now. He is finding boundaries every over and India are leaking runs at a very fast pace. In fact, in last 10 overs, India have conceded 71 runs even after getting the wicket of Pat Cummins. Smith, who just completed his century, has jumped into 130s straightaway.

Another tough outing for India and the bowlers are really struggling. Smith is looking at 150 and Australia would want to go above 500.

The first session is over. Another tough one for India. They got the wicket of Pat Cummins but conceded 143 runs in 27 overs. Smith is batting on 139 and he has done the majority of damage to India's plans so far.

Third ball after the break and Jadeja strikes. Mitchell Starc has to depart. Jadeja comes round the wicket and pitches it full. Starc expects the ball to turn but it does not and the left-hander is beaten on the outside edge and the ball thuds into the stumps. Starc removed for 15.

Steve Smith is gone!

That will be the final relief for India. Akash Deep gets his second wicket and Smith's stay at the crease ends. Smith wants to attack and he jumps out of his crease to throw his bat at this largely inocuos delivery. All he gets is an inside edge on to the back of his leg and the ball rolls to dislodge the bails. Smith is gone after a wonderful 140 and MCG crowd gives him a standing ovation.

Scot Boland has been given out LBW but he wants to go upstairs. Jadeja comes up with an arm ball on the off stump and Boland misses on forward defence.

Review shows an inside edge and that saves Australia.

The last pair of Lyon and Boland has batted more than seven overs and India now again go back to Jasprit Bumrah to get the breakthrough.

Australia has been bowled out for 474. Bumrah brought back to take the last wicket and he has done it in just four balls. Lyon misses this full delivery and gets beaten on the inside edge to get hit on the pad. A loud appeal and umpire raises the finger. Lyon reviews but everyone knows it is plumb. Bumrah finishes with four wickets. Lyon gone for 13 and Boland remains not out on 6.

So, India are set to go. They have 474 runs to look at in the first innings. It is Rohit Sharma who will open the innings. Yashasvi Jaiswal with him as the opening partner. Mitchell Starc with the new ball.

Terrible start for India. Rohit Sharma who promoted him to open the innings is gone early. Awful shot. Pat Cummins bowls it short of a good length and Rohit looks to just pat the ball on the leg side with a horizontal bat and top edges it to Scot Boland who walks a little from mid on to take a simple catch. Rohit goes for 3 off just his fifth ball.

Jaiswal with the ramp above the slips to get a boundary. Short of length from Cummins and a little width on offer. Jaiswal waits and pushes the rising ball above the slip cordon. First four for India.

KL Rahul is looking solid once again. Playing inside the line of the ball and aiming to play the ball late. Jaiswal, on the other hand, is trying to get his bat on the ball and it is causing him a bit of problem as well.

So, the local boy Scot Boland now comes into the attack. Known for consistently bowling length around the off stump, Boland has spectacular numbers at the MCG. He has Jaiswal on strike.

Six balls, all on length and around the off stump and Jaiswal sees him out. Boland begins with maiden.

KL Rahul has been clean bowled! It is just unplayable from Cummins. Angling into Rahul but after pitching the ball just moves away enough to beat Rahul's outside edge and clip the top of off stump. Rahul can not do much with that. Cummins strikes again. He has now got two wickets. Rahul walks back for 24.

And Tea break also taken. Jaiswal is batting on 23 while Kohli will join him after the break.

We are back after the tea break. Scott Boland preparing to begin proceedings with the ball. Jaiswal on strike and Kohli is the new man in. India trailing by 423 runs.

Kohli is biding his time so far. He has played 16 balls and got four singles. Still trying to get his eye in. And as Smith showed, once set, the pitch is not that tough to bat. Jaiswal has played 57 balls and is looking good on 33. India would need these two to bat out the day.

Kohli brings out his cover drive. As beautiful as it gets. Kohli gets his first boundary. A little overpitched from Cummins just outside the off stump but Kohli finds the timing this time. Glorious. That should give Kohli and the Indian fans a lot of confidence.

Another beautiful shot from Kohli. Starc after bowling outside off drfits towards the pad on the last ball and Kohli stands tall with his classic flick. Beats the midwicket fielder and gets a four. Kohli moves up to 15 and he is looking really good today. India need their former captain to be at his best.

Good innings from the left-hander. And he is now on the charge as well. He raises his half-century and gets 14 from this over of Mitchell Starc. He has played and missed quite a few this afternoon but the youngster has stayed there. India need him to go big with this start.

Still a long way to go but Kohli and Jaiswal have given India a lot of confidence. Both of them have looked really solid after initial struggle. The duo looks set now and the partnership has already crossed 60. Indian fans can not afford another wicket today.

Yashasvi Jaiswal is gone. Terrible, terrible mix-up. Jaiswal pushes this full-length ball to mid off and sets off for a single but Kohli is still watching the ball. Jaiswal runs to the non-striker's end and it is an easy run out for Australia. Indian fans will be heartbroken and so will be Jaiswal. He goes for 82.

Kohli edges one to Alex Carey and Australia are suddenly on the front foot again. Yet again it is the off stump line that undoes all the good work of Kohli so far in this innings. Good length ball and Kohli just hangs his bat outside his off stump and Boland gets and edge. Kohli walks back for 36 and India under pressure once again.

Rishabh Pant and nightwatchman Akash Deep are in the middle now. Around 10 minutes of play left. India would not want another wicket here while Australia definitely would love one or two more.

Akash Deep dismissed by Scott Boland. Trouble just keeps mounting for India and the last half-an-hour has been really really bad. Length ball angling into Akash Deep's thighs. He tries to turn theball away into the leg side but gets an iside edge to the thigh pad and the ball lobs to Nathan Lyon who takes a good diving catch at backward square leg. Akash gets a Duck.

That will be it for today. Jadeja finishes the day with a boundary after Starc drifts towards his pads trying to find the yorker. Jadeja will resume tomorrow at 4 and Pant will continue from 6. Australia will walk back really really happy. They still lead by over 300 runs.

A day which was going decently for India has been turned on its head in the last half an hour. Jaiswal was run out after a terrible mixup with Kohli. And soon Kohli too fell. The nighwatchman Akash Deep too joined the duo in the pavillion and India are suddenly in a difficult position. Jadeja and Pant are in the middle but half of Indian side is gone and they still trail by 310 runs. Boland and Cummins have taken a couple of wickets each and Australia are in total control.
