The remainder of ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 was suspended with immediate effect for one week. Despite the tournament in the endgame, the ongoing tensions between India and Pakistan ensured that the lucrative T20 league is brought to a standstill.
However, despite that, we have brought some of the key developments that have taken place on May 9, 2025.
Orange Cap Race
Despite Mumbai Indians' Suryakumar Yadav holding the Orange Cap in the first spot, only 10 runs separate him and the player in fifth, GT's Jos Buttler. The top 5 run-getters in IPL 2025 are in a neck and neck race for the numero spot.
Other names in the list include Sai Sudharsan, Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli. If and when the IPL 2025 does resume, this race will be an interesting watch.
SACA, CA Boards Express Player Safety Concerns
With the India and Pakistan tensions escalating further, the South African Cricketers' Association and Cricket Australia (CA) have expressed safety concerns regarding their country's players who are participating in the IPL 2025.
"The health and safety of players is not negotiable. We are in direct contact with all the South African players at the IPL and keeping them updated with security reports. We have offered them any support they need," Andrew Breetzke, the chief executive of the South African Cricketers' Association, said.
"We continue to closely monitor the situation in Pakistan and India, including obtaining regular advice and updates from the Australian Government, the PCB, BCCI and local government authorities, and maintaining communication with our players and support staff currently in the region," Cricket Australia said in a statement.
Apart from the South Africa and Australia boards, even West Indies Cricket Board issued a statement regarding the player safety.
Updated IPL 2025 Points Table

In the wake of BCCI postponing the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, now it's the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) who have announced the postponement of the Pakistan Super League 2025.
"The decision to postpone has been taken pursuant to advice received from the Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif," the PCB said in a statement.
Reportedly, the tournament was supposed to be shifted to the UAE, but the PSL authorities failed to reach an agreement with the Emirates Cricket Board.
