This becomes their third victory on the trot but it did not seem like it for a long time as Hyderabad defence managed to keep the Red and Gold Brigade at bay till very late in the game. Then came the own goal in the 86th minute which put East Bengal ahead before Messi Bouli doubled the lead in the last moments of the game. It seemed for a long time that East Bengal might rue missed chances but they saved their best for the end.

Despite the win, East Bengal's chances of making it to the top six are really, really slim. They need to win their last couple of games and hope only one of Mumbai City, NorthEast United and Odisha FC gets over 33 points, which is the most they can get to after winning both their remaining games.
