After multiple delays, and a legal battle with PVR, Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi starrer Bhool Chuk Maaf, finally hit the theatres on Friday, May 23, with mixed reviews. The film could only earn a single digit but a decent number on Day 1 of its release.

As per Sacnilk, the film earned Rs 7 crore on its opening day. It had an overall 19.36% Hindi occupancy on Friday, with highest occupancy of 31.27% in the night shows, and minimum occupancy of 9.40% in the morning shows.

The romantic comedy drama performed better than Rajkummar Rao's last films, Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video, and Srikanth which took opening of Rs 5.5 crore and Rs 2.25 crore, respectively.

But, the film fared well than Rao's blockbuster Stree 2, which earned Rs 51.8 crore on the day of its release, according to Sacnilk.com.

Bhool Chuk Maaf did not cross the opening day collections of this year's releases including Akshay Kumar's Kesari Chapter 2: The Untold Story of Jallianwala Bagh, which raked in Rs 7.75 crore on Day 1 and Sunny Deol's Jaat, which minted Rs 9.5 crore. But it surpassed the Day 1 collections of John Abraham starrer The Diplomat, and Shahid Kapoor's Deva which were Rs 4 crore and Rs 5.5 crore, respectively.

The film was released with Sooraj Pancholi's Kesari Veer, which earned only Rs 25 lakh. Rao's film doesn't have bigger competitors in the upcoming days, so the collections might see a surge in the coming days.

The film is reportedly expected to release on OTT within two weeks.

Bhool Chuk Maaf is directed by Karan Sharma and produced by Dinesh Vijan's Maddock Films. It also stars Seema Pahwa, Sanjay Mishra, Zakir Hussain and Raghubir Yadav.
