Director Ari Aster made his Cannes debut with the premiere of his latest film Eddington at the 78th edition of the festival on Friday, May 16. He was joined on the red carpet by the stellar star cast, including Joaquin Phoenix, Emma Stone, Pedro Pascal and Austin Butler.
As per Deadline, Eddington got nearly seven-minute standing ovation at the Lumiere theater, that moved Phoenix to tears. The video of him getting emotional has been doing the rounds on social media.
For the unversed, Eddington is part of the Cannes Film Festival's main competition section, where it is competing with Wes Anderson, Lucia Ducournau and Lynne Ramsay's films.

About Eddington
Set in a small town in New Mexico during the COVID pandemic, Eddington is a thriller/dark comedy where Joaquin Phoenix plays small-town Sheriff Joe Cross and Pascal plays Mayor Ted Garcia.
