Kamal Haasan is currently gearing up for the release of his upcoming film, Thug Life. During one of his interviews, the actor recalled the missed opportunity to collaborate with filmmaker Satyajit Ray on the music for his 1987 silent film Pushpak.
Haasan said Pushpak team was about to contact Ray to do music for Pushpak but they missed it, which he still regrets.
Kamal Haasan told India Today, "We were on the very edge of contacting Mr Satyajit Ray to do music for Pushpak. We missed it and we still regret it. But then market pressures and we had to settle down and get the film done."
The National award-winning actor also said how Satyajit Ray's contribution to the film would have taken it to a different level. "But that would have taken us places. He would have advised us and the fact that he didn't know this was happening out of earshot and he mentions Pushpak is that it truly is a missed opportunity. He would have worked," he said.
He further added, "We were thinking he 'could have', but he would have worked because of the way I heard him talk about that one scene in Pushpak. He would have liked it and we missed an opportunity. This industry is full of lost opportunities like that".
Directed by Singeetam Srinivasa Rao, the black comedy also starred Samir Khakhar, K S Ramesh, Amala, Farida Jalal, Tinu Anand, Pratap Potan, Lokanath, P L Narayana, and Ramya in key roles.
