Mumbai Indians have eliminated Gujarat Titans from the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 after an easy win in the Eliminator held in Chandigarh on Friday, 30 May. Now, the caravan will move to Ahmedabad where MI will take on Punjab Kings i the second qualifier.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru are already in the final after a big win over PBKS in the first qualifier, and now they will clash with the five-time champions in a do-or-die match at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Sunday, 1 June.
Sudharsan, Prasidh Finish On High
Gujarat Titans ended their campaign with a defeat in the Eliminator against Mumbai Indians. But there were some positives for the GT players, which they can show off at the end of the season. Opener batter Sai Sudharsan finished at the top of the highest run-getters list with 759 runs. MI's Suryakumar Yadav is second on the list with 673 runs. For now, Sudharsan has the orange cap (most runs), and he is likely to retain that at the end of the season.
In the race for the purple cap, GT's Prasidh Krishna overtook Noor Ahmad and finished his campaign with 25 wickets. Josh Hazlewood and Trent Boult are two other bowlers who are near him with 21 wickets each, but he is most likely to retain the cap.
Rohit Sharma Completes 7000 IPL Runs
Rohit Sharma played a match-winning knock for his side Mumbai Indians, in the Eliminator to play a pivotal role in the win. He made 81 runs off 50 balls to help his team set a big total of 228 runs. He was named Player of the Match for his knock. He also became the Indian player with the most POTM awards in the IPL.
He also completed 7000 IPL runs while batting on Friday. He is the second leading run-scorer in IPL history after Virat Kohli. He also completed 300 sixes in the IPL.
Teams In Ahmedabad For Qualifier 2
Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians are ready for the second qualifier to be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday. Both teams have reached the venue and will be trying for a place in the finals. RCB have already entered the final, which will be played at the same venue on Tuesday, 3 June.
Pandya Praises Bumrah!
Hardik Pandya praised Jasprit Bumrah after his impactful bowling in the Eliminator. Bumrah took a crucial wicket with a yorker and conceded just 27 runs in four overs. Pandya said bringing Bumrah is a luxury and a game-changer when the match is slipping away.
He strategically used Bumrah in the 18th over to widen the margin. Pandya added that having bowlers like Bumrah allows him to plan according to the scoreboard. Mumbai will now face Punjab Kings in Qualifier 2 in Ahmedabad on Sunday, with the winner advancing to the title clash on June 3.
PBKS Take On MI For Seat In Final
Punjab Kings will need to be cautious of Mumbai Indians' batting depth, featuring explosive players like Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, Hardik Pandya, and Naman Dhir. If the PBKS bowlers have an off day, MI could post a massive score. On the other hand, MI's Jasprit Bumrah is a game-changer with the ball, capable of turning matches with his skill.
