Tamil Actor Srikanth Arrested In Drugs Case; Sent To Judicial Custody Till July 7

On Monday morning, Srikanth was detained for questioning, followed by the arrest after he tested positive for narcotics in the blood test.

South Indian actor Srikanth, also known as Sriram Krishnamachari, was arrested on Monday, June 23, after detention, by the Nungambakkam police of the Greater Chennai Police for allegedly buying cocaine from a drug cartel.

As per reports, the police conducted a search at Srikanth바카라™s residence in the Nungambakkam Lake Area, where cocaine in small quantities was allegedly seized.

On Monday morning, the actor was detained for questioning which lasted for more than nine hours. It was followed by the arrest after he tested positive for narcotics in the blood test.

A senior police officer confirming Srikanth바카라™s arrest in the drug case said that he had been in regular contact with three drug offenders arrested recently.

The officer told The Hindu, "Our investigation revealed that he procured and consumed cocaine... Further investigation is under way."

As per a report in ANI, Srikanth was produced before Magistrate Dhayalan of the 14th Metropolitan Magistrate Court, Egmore. The hearing took place at the magistrate's residence in the Judicial Officers' Quarters.

The actor was represented by advocate Vignesh Ramanadhan for the legal proceedings. After the hearing, he was remanded to judicial custody until July 7, 2025.

Srikanth's arrest comes after police recently detained T. Prasad, a functionary of the AIADMK IT wing, who allegedly sold cocaine to Srikanth at a Nungambakkam pub last month. While interrogating Prasad, the authorities reportedly got evidence that pointed to Srikanth's alleged involvement in the drug network. Based on that, he was taken into custody.

Who is Srikanth?

Srikanth made his acting debut in 1999 with K Balachander's TV show Jannal--Marabu Kavithaigal. He made his film debut in 2002 with the Tamil film Roja Kootam. Later, he starred in several films like April Maadhathil, Parthiban Kanavu, Okariki Okaru, and also in the Tamil remake of 3 Idiots, titled Nanban.
