The West Bengal Centralised Admission Portal (WBCAP) has started its registration process for undergraduate admissions 2025 from today, June 18. Students across the state aiming to pursue UG courses in government and government-aided colleges can now begin the online application process.
Through this centralised system, candidates will be able to choose from nearly 25 undergraduate programmes offered in various disciplines. This new streamlined process is part of a broader effort to modernize the West Bengal higher education admissions system, making it more accessible and transparent for students across all regions.
What Is WBCAP?
The WBCAP online admission portal is a digital platform launched by the Department of Higher Education, West Bengal, to centralize applications for admission to UG programmes across 460 government and government-aided institutions, including some of the most sought-after public universities and colleges in West Bengal.
This move aligns with the WBSHE admission guidelines 2025, which are designed to enhance transparency, accessibility, and efficiency in the West Bengal college admissions process. The system allows students to apply to multiple institutions in a single window, thereby reducing paperwork and admission delays.
Courses Covered Under WBCAP
WBCAP 2025 offers admission into a wide range of general degree courses, including BA, BSc, BCom, and other UG courses Kolkata and other districts typically offer. Students can explore around 25 programmes across disciplines. The centralized admission portal also ensures seat allotment based on merit and preferences filled during registration, enhancing fairness in admissions.

Which Colleges Are Excluded from the WBCAP System?
Although the West Bengal Centralised Admission Portal (WBCAP) covers a wide network of government and government-aided institutions, certain colleges and universities are excluded from this system. These include prestigious institutions like Presidency University and Jadavpur University, which conduct their own independent admission processes. Additionally, autonomous colleges, minority educational institutions, and training colleges are also outside the purview of WBCAP.
Furthermore, the centralised portal does not apply to law colleges and universities, as well as institutions offering specialised programmes in fine arts, performing arts, crafts, dance, and music. Courses related to engineering, pharmacy, nursing, and medical sciences are also not covered under this centralised structure. Lastly, self-financing and private colleges operate their admissions independently and must be approached separately by applicants.
Students seeking admission to any of these institutions or programmes must refer to the respective college or university websites for their individual admission guidelines, as these fall beyond the scope of the WBSHE admission guidelines 2025 and the WBCAP framework.
For the latest updates and detailed guidelines, applicants must visit the official website at regularly.
