Pakistan Army Chief, Field Marshal Asim Munir, is slated to have a closed-door lunch with US President Donald Trump on Wednesday at the Cabinet Room of the White House. As per media reports, no press access has been permitted for the meeting.
Citing the president바카라™s daily public schedule, NDTV reported that the meeting is expected to take place between Trump and Munir at 1 PM (Washington time). Munir, as per media reports, is also expected to meet with Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth on his US trip.
In his first five-day-long official visit to the United States after the recent India-Pakistan military standoff following the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, Munir arrived in Washington on Sunday. The visit, which is reportedly 'bilateral in nature', aims to reinforce strategic ties with the United States.
Earlier, it was speculated that the Pakistani field marshal would be attending the US Army Day parade. However, the claims were officially denied by the US. "This is false. No foreign military leaders were invited," a White House official said, as per reports. A report by Dawn also mentioned that despite its timing, the visit is not officially linked to the US Army바카라™s 250th anniversary celebrations on June 14.
The timing of the meeting holds significance as it is taking place amid the escalating conflict between Israel and Iran. Pakistan finds importance in this scenario for sharing a land border with Iran, which is strategically crucial for the US, especially if Trump decides to get directly involved in the conflict.
However, Munir's arrival was not well received by several Pakistani nationals and Pakistani Americans, who protested outside his hotel and near the Pakistani embassy in Washington, calling for the restoration of what they described as "unfettered democracy" in Pakistan.
The demonstrations were reportedly organised by supporters of former Prime Minister Imran Khan's party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). The protesters confronted the pak army chief outside the Four Seasons Hotel in Washington, chanting slogans like "Asim Munir, you are a coward", "shame on you, mass murderer" and "shame on you, dictator" and "Pakistaniyon Ke Kaatil (Killer of Pakistanies)"
