UK: Dozens Injured As Car Ploughs Into Liverpool Fan Club Parade, Man Arrested; Cops Rule Out Terrorism Angle

At least four dozen people were injured and 27, including four children, were promptly taken to a hospital as a car suddenly ploughed into a crowd of Liverpool football club fans who came out in the tens of thousands to celebrate their side's Premier League soccer title on Monday.

However, police reportedly asserted that they did not believe the incident was terrorism-related. "The incident is not being treated as terrorism," authorities said, as per BBC.

"We believe this to be an isolated incident, and we are not currently looking for anyone else in relation to it. The incident is not being treated as terrorism," temporary Deputy Chief Constable Jenny Sims told reporters.

A 53-year-old driver has been arrested after a vehicle ploughed into the crowd.

As per media reports, twenty people were treated at the scene. while the rest were taken to hospital. One child and one adult were in a serious condition. Four people trapped under the vehicle had to be released by firefighters.

When the car stopped, angry fans converged on it and began smashing the windows as police officers intervened to prevent them from reaching the driver.

Emergency vehicles and an air ambulance rushed to the scene to attend to the injured.

Expressing concern over the tragic incident, British Prime Minster Keir Starmer said, "The scenes in Liverpool are appalling 바카라” my thoughts are with all those injured or affected. I want to thank the police and emergency services for their swift and ongoing response to this shocking incident. I바카라™m being kept updated on developments and ask that we give the police the space they need to investigate."

The Liverpool football team also said on X it was in direct contact with police.

"We are in direct contact with Merseyside Police regarding the incident on Water Street which happened towards the end of the trophy parade earlier this evening. Our thoughts and prayers are with those who have been affected by this serious incident. We will continue to offer our full support to the emergency services and local authorities who are dealing with this incident", Liverpool FC posted on X.

Hundreds of thousands of fans gathered on Monday to watch the Liverpool team and its staff travel through the city centre on an open-top bus with the Premier League trophy.

Liverpool fans were celebrating the city team's 20th Premier League soccer championship. The team's last league title was in 2020, but fans couldn't publicly celebrate in the same way due to pandemic-related restrictions.
