Colonel Sofiya Qureshi's, one of the two officers who briefed the media about India's strike on terror camps in Pakistan, was cited by the Supreme Court in its 2020 judgment that granted Permanent Commission to women in the Indian Army.
Referring to her glorious career, the court said she was the first woman officer to lead an Indian Army contingent at the multinational military exercise 'Exercise Force 18'. "Lieutenant Colonel Sofiya Qureshi (Army Signal Corps) is the first woman to lead an Indian Army contingent at a multi-national military exercise named 'Exercise Force 18', the largest ever foreign military exercise hosted by India. She has served in the United Nations Peacekeeping Operation in Congo in 2006, where she, along with others, was in charge of monitoring ceasefires in those countries and aiding in humanitarian activities. Her job included ensuring peace in the conflict-affected areas," the Supreme Court had said.
The Court used her example to demonstrate that women officers have the necessary leadership, skills, and operational experience for command roles.
Col Qureshi from the Indian Army바카라s Signals Corps was present at the National Media Centre on Wednesday, where she addressed the media alongside Wing Commander Vyomika Singh of the Indian Air Force and Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri.
The briefing focused on 바카라Operation Sindoor,바카라 a military initiative involving precise missile strikes on nine terrorist camps situated in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). These strikes were carried out in response to the terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22. As per official reports, satellite images show substantial damage to the targeted locations in Bahawalpur and Muridke.
