India Reports Over 1,000 Fresh COVID-19; Maharashtra, Kerala And Delhi See Spike

India reported over 1,000 fresh COVID-19 cases on Monday, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. Among the states, Kerala, Maharashtra, and Delhi reported the highest number of new infections.

Some states like Andaman and Nicobar, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu and Kashmir currently have no active cases reported.

COVID-19 Cases In Various States:

Kerala and Maharashtra have reported a surge in COVID-19 cases, with Kerala recording 335 fresh infections, taking its total active cases to 430, and Maharashtra reporting 153 new cases.

Delhi: The national capital has reported a total of 104 active COVID-19 cases. As per the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare's Covid-19 dashboard, last week the total number of active cases stood at 99.

A senior Delhi government health official confirmed the figures, adding that while the situation remains under control, authorities are closely monitoring any potential surge.

Bihar on Monday registered the state's first Covid-19 case of the current wave as a 31-year-old man from Patna tested positive for the infection.

The patient, who is undergoing treatment at a private hospital, has "no history" of travelling outside the state recently.

West Bengal: Four more people tested positive for Covid-19 in West Bengal, taking the count of active cases to 11.

The patients with breathing-related issues have been undergoing treatment at state-run and private hospitals, he said, adding that most of these cases were reported from Kolkata and its suburbs.

"These patients are under observation. The number of patients who tested positive for the contagion was seven till Saturday. Four more cases were reported till Sunday evening," he said. Bengal has only one active Covid-19 case till May 19, he said.

COVID-19 cases have been rising across the country over the past few weeks.
