About eight people, including three women, were severely injured after a lift snapped and fell from the fourth floor of a 16-storey building in a commercial complex in Mumbai바카라™s Kamala Mills Compound area on Wednesday, officials said.Â
According to the Brihanmumbai Corporation (BMC), all the injured persons are stable.
The accident took place around 10.45 am in the C-wing of the Trade World building at Kamala Mills Compound, which houses several corporate offices, in the Lower Parel area, a BMC official told PTI.Â
There were at least 12-14 people on board the elevator at the time of collapse. As the wires snapped, the lift fell to the basement carrying the people onboard. A video shared online showed the aftermath of the incident.
The building바카라™s security staff rescued those inside the lift and sent the injured to nearby hospitals, the civic official said.
Seven people are admitted to a private hospital in Parel, while one person is being treated at the civic-run KEM hospital in the area. Four others who suffered minor bruises declined hospitalisation, the official said.
The cause of the accident is being ascertained.
